if the D4 light was flashing, then it's the faulty trans solenoid. if
not, then tranmission slipping is often caused by low fluid level, or
improperly adjusted throttle valve cable aka kickdown cable

have no idea how much the solenoids would cost, did a quick check on
this site http://www.partstrain.com and they are $200 each. make sure
you ask for receipts and warranty on parts when you have your car fix,
most of the time a simple cleaning will get the solenoids working
again..
