I'm pretty sure that in 2004 it only came as an AWD. Works as a front drive until the front starts to slip then the rear wheels get power to help. If you look under the vehicle down the middle you will see a long shaft going to a center box that will have drive axles like the fronts coming out of it and into the rear wheels.
