It takes R-12, when you take a look at the AC service ports the R-12 system uses schrader valves like a tire valve with threads on the side of the valve. R-134a uses acme fittings which are quick disconnect fittings, if the system was converted it should have the new fittings screwed on the old schrader type valves.
