There are no particular performance benefits of a loud muffler, i.e., aftermarket "coffee-can" exhaust tip with the angry bumble-bee sound. They're for show, and tend to attract unwanted attention from law enforcement. If you really want performance enhancements, go for exhaust system components that will make your car "breathe" easier.
