Patching a tire is always an option, so long as the whole is not in the
sidewall of the tire. Yes it will change the tire, but only slightly.
If the tire is properly balanced after patching, the normal driver would
never know the difference between a patched tire and a new tire, as far
as driving on the tire. This is providing that the tire is not used for
racing or drifting, for either of these purposes, the recommendation is
a brand new tire or set of tires.
