I prefer brand name like Fram, etc., and will use a little longer filter if room permits. It just gives you more filtering over the 3000-5000 mile interval.On my V-8's I always use the longer version of the same size filter. The factory always recommends the shorter one.You may need to add a little more oil in the beginning to get it up to the full mark after running a bit then rechecking the level.Oil never really wears out, it just gets so dirty from all the contaminants that manage to get into your crankcase, from dirt to metals, etc.
