Aftermarket replacement intakes, other than looking cool, do NOTHING to increase HP under 6000rpm. I repeat: NOTHING. A well respected television show, 'Horsepower TV' decided to build a tuner car vs the usual muscle car for their weekly program a few months ago. The purchased a decent Honda Civic for $3900.00, added a serious cold/ram air intake system (which necessitated cutting out a portion of the lower bumper in order to make room for the air exchanger), headers and free flow exhaust system. They spent a whopping $1,000.00 for the upgrages and then tested for HP gain. At seven thousand (7000!!!) rpm the engine gained a heart stopping 10 horsepower. Wow. The silly side to all this is the fact that they could have easily purchased a good, stock Mustang GT that has three times the HP of the now modified Honda. Now, to answer your question -- NO, a cold air intake won't work. Besides, your Honda already HAS a cold air intake. It's just not an aluminum pipe.
