I have a 89 Honda Accord and the same thing happen to me, there is either something crossing the wires or some part of your wires are touching metal. just last week I blew all my ignition fuses because I accidently touched some metal when I was putting the new switch in and it cost me another $10 in fuses. make sure everything is grounded out right too. try grounding them straight to the ground on the battery.
