The Hybrid will save you on Gasoline but the reality is unless you can get it for about the same price as a NON Hybrid of the same year you will not really be saving much. The Hybrid of that year with a 93 hp Gasoline engine and a 10hp boost from the electric engine will average about 42 MPG in every day driving if you drive it like a teenager that stole it. You will average about 2 MPG better if you drive it like your Grandmother.The regular Civic LX with all the same features (except alloy wheels) has a 115 hp engine and will get you about 38 MPG average with a better acceleration factor (about 3-4 seconds faster in a 0-60 acceleration test). 5 MPG is not a great amount unless you drive 20,000 miles or more in a year considering the oil change will cost about $5-$10 more as it uses a special 0-20 wt oil and this oil is a bit more expensive.The tax rebate went to the original owner and you will not get any of this benefit.The battery is warrantied for 8yr/ 80,000 miles except in CA where it is warrantied for 10yr/150,000 on the PZEV model.If you are interested in going green with your vehicle consider buying a NEW Honda Hybrid and getting the best gas mileage in a vehicle as it WILL get you between 47 and 50 real miles per gallon and you will get the benefit of any available tax incentives to help offset the extra cost on these vehicles.
