The problem is not with how much the CRV can pull but in stopping the vehicle. The difference in the specs on the 'recommended' towing capacity is the distributor's comfort level with regard to product liability. American Honda, the US distributor is a very conservative company and they usually understate their 'real' towing capacities. Honda UK may have different competitors or their competitors may have higher towing capacities that cause the UK distributor to be less conservative in their published capacity.
