The '96 Accord is a 5th generation model, whereas years '98-'02 represent the 6th generation Accord. There are substantial differences between generations & few things about them will be compatable...especially engine swaps. However, '98 &'02 engines should swap w. minimal issues. Starting in '00, Accords were equipped w. solid state ignition...superior to earlier distributor/rotor assemblies. Engine swaps of this sort would not provide any cost-effective gains...better to rebuild or build-up the car's existing motor.
