Actually, they have the same engine. They are basically the same car. The EX comes with a few more bells and whistles. It includes standard alarm, engine immobilizer, 4 wheel anti-lock brakes (the LS has standard 2 wheel anti-lock brakes), optional leather interior, standard keyless entry (optional on LS), moon roof (not available on LS), CD player (cassette is standard on LS). Some of these standard options for EX are also available for LS models. The LS does offer almost 2 inches more headroom than the EX (supposedly sportier). But as with many cars, there's the basic model (no bells or whistles), then the LS (power windows and doors, etc.) , then the EX (most standard luxuries available).
