Well did the mechanic tell you exactly where the leak is and what part
of the line is leaking? If I had to guess it probably is a crack in
the rubber so they are suggesting that all of the rubber lines be
replaced. I'm not sure how much this costs but $800 does seem very
high. Call back and get more information, then call around to other
places and see what they would charge. The only thing that is going to
stop your car from hitting the person in front of you is dependant on
the brake fluid getting to your calipers so that the pads make contact
with your rotors. Do you want to chance that the fluid does not make
it to them? Your call.
