Don't understand " pass something through exhaust" what reaction would this be ?? Does it back fire or what. Distributor can cause shut down but usually only mis fire.I don' know for sure but did 93 have computer, I guess, from your description, that the car starts again after it quits ? If so I would run a fuel pump pressure check.
