Take it to autozone.. they will hook up a scanner to your car (for free) and tell you why your check engine light is coming on. There are close to a hundred different reasons why it could be coming on.As for the Vtec.. it will be disabled when the check engine light is on. It's a safety feature on Vtec motors. You have to fix the problem AND have the check engine light reset in order to get the Vtec to start working again.
