That is the whole purpose of a rev limiter. It limits the revs your engine will turn preventing most damage. However, if you think it is too high, you may be able to go to Acura, and have the computer tech lower it for you. In my opinion, an 8000rpm limit on a red line that starts at 7800 should be fine. I wouldn't count on the rev limiter to launch though, as you will probably hit 8000 for a sustained period of time, it should be fine while running up through the gears though, because you are only at 8000 for a short time. Be sure you run a good oil in it though, like maybe a 20-50 racing oil. Valvoline makes a good racing blend. I use it, and reccommend it all the time
