LS vtec? Hmm . Could be not up to operating temp, (coolant sensor), Not enough oil pressure ( check oil, change oil & use wix or Honda Oil filter) It does make a difference Was the wiring done properly? IS it a recent problem or always. Is there any CEL (Check engine lights?) A quote from the link I posted: " The ECM also looks at other inputs for VTEC operation - engine temp, engine oil pressure and vehicle speed (VTEC does not turn on unless the vehicle is moving). A separate oil pressure switch monitors the VTEC system. If a problem occurs, the ECM can turn off VTEC operation and will set a code, turning on the "check engine" light. In some cases, it can also cause a driveability problem. "Ask another question; I will be around to help,Good luck,KCA follow up on your additional details:I believe that it could be the wires. On most swapped cars the wiring is quite questionable. I actuallr rerun it into the factor looms as best I can and use tape to put the harness back together. An arduous task but I never have wireing issues. As far as cleaning the solinoid. Remove the top spool cylinder with three ten mm bolts from the top of the sloiniod. Make sure there are no burrs on the rotaiting piece that 'floats' arount in there. Then remove the whole rest of the assembly from the side of the head and check to see if there is any garbage blocking the screen. Clean it and reoil it with clean motor oil. Assemble it back together. I have heard of problems with these things before although I have never seen debris inside the screen, nor have i ever fixed any vtec issues by taking that thing apart. Good luck keep on trying and don't get discouraged, KC
