2000 Odyssey going through tires like crazy
We have a 2000 Odyssey that we bought used. It got a new set of tires in
the 20-25k mile range, and I attributed that to however the original owner
might have treated the car. At 51k miles, it needed MORE new tires, and I
paid a lot more money than I'd ever paid before, just to get tires that
would have a longer tread life.
Now I've got 81k miles on the van and two of THOSE tires (Toyos, selected
for long tread life above any other consideration, and they cost me about
$130 apiece) are down to 3/32" of tread, in need of near immediate
replacement. The other two tires are fine.
We have the dealer do regular service on the car and the tires are of
course rotated. I'd like to know why I'm burning throgh tires in less than
30k miles per set (much faster degradation than with any other vehicle I've
owned).
More importantly, what are a decent set of tires, that ride okay and are
safe, but will give me longer tread life on this vehicle than I've
experienced thus far?
