2001 Civic battery light - charging system indicator light wont go off.
I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX with a lot of miles and last week the
battery light/charging system indicator light came on while driving
home from work. I turned off everything I could that uses battery
power and drove home fine. When I got home I tested the voltage on the
batter while the car was running and it was showing 14.5 ~ 14.7 Volts.
I assumed because of this reading that my battery was defective because
the alternator appears to be charging the battery properly. I replaced
the battery. However, the battery light/charging system indicator
light is still on. I cant get it to go off. I tested the battery again
while running and the volts are around 14.5
It appears that the alternator is charging the battery however the
battery light on the dash is still lit and I am hesitant to drive the
car to work (50 miles one way) Is there a trick to resetting this
light after the battery has been replaced ? I couldnt find anything
in the manual.
