At the bottom of the shift lever, under the leather cover is a set of
bushings. They're external to the gearbox and a dealer can sell you a
set of new ones for not too much. They're a little hard to get at
since they're right above the exhaust pipe, but nothing you can't fix
yourself with a little patience.
