Default Re: Replacing Headlight Assembly on 1996 Civic

I believe you need to remove the front bumper cover, but fear not, it is
easy. Check the service maual at
http://www.hondahookup.com/manuals/S...6-98_civic.pdf
for details.

A few hints from my '94 (generation before yours, some details might be
different).

Prepare a place to put the bumper cover once you get it off so you don't
scratch up the paint.

Start with the one screw in each wheel well, just pull the plastic inner
fender out so that it is outside the lip of the bumper cover rather than
its normal location inside the lip. Then remove the phillips head screw
that holds the bumper cover against the fender

Then remove the two bolts under the front of the bumper cover. The cover
will still stay in place.

Finally remove the six screws at the top of the bumper, just barely
under the hood. Be careful as you remove the last on so you do not drop
the bumper cover. Grab the bumper cover and pull forwards to remove and
set aside. The absorber (foam piece) will fall off the actual steel
bumper. Have a look at it so you know which way it goes when you put it
back on.

Then go at the head lights.
