96 Civic, 13" Wheels, Tried to Install Hubcaps...Wheel Nut Problem
I have recently purchased a 96 Civic DX with 20,000mi(yes, 20K) for
only $5000. Honestly the car is in perfect condition. The only thing
that bothers me is the lack of hubcaps (only the silver steel wheels).
I purchased a set of "mock" Honda hubcaps from e-bay and they look
quite nice. (also purchased a set for my 91 accord). When I tried to
tighten the wheel nut over the hubcap it cracked the hubcap...even
with the included washers. It seems that the nut goes too far into the
wheel for some reason. When I tried using one of my nuts from the 91
Accord it worked perfectly. I am currently on the lookout for wheel
nuts for a 91 Accord for cheaper than the 6$ a nut from Honda (I need
16!). I am going to check NAPA auto parts, they say that they have it
(the characteristic that makes the 91's nuts work is the rubber washer
attached, NAPA says that theirs has the washer). Could any of you
suggest any other solutions to this problem? Any kind of washer, etc?
Thanks for your time.
