If it was their negligence, they are responsible for correcting the
results. Could the missing fill bolt have resulted in: a) fluid sloshing
out under the pressures of use? b) debris (e.g. road grit) making its
way into your tranny (I don't know where the tranny is on an Ody, so
maybe not)? Sounds like their fault to me, and their responsibility.
A new guy at my favorite RI mechanic's place forgot to tighten the hose
clamps after changing my heater core, and neglected to screw in/tighten
some other bolts. Good thing I only had to go 10 miles--had steam
pouring out from under the hood when I stopped at my destination. That
wasn't bad cuz I caught it, but my mechanic soon got rid of the guy
(there were other problems, apparently) and made it up to me.
