My old car used to have a problem like this. It is normal to re-lock
after a bunch of seconds when the door hasn't opened. The problem in my
old car was the door sensor was broken, so even if I opened the driver's
side door, that car didn't know it and relocked anyway. Do you have any
other problems like the dome light doesn't turn on when the door opens
(with the switch set to "door" of course)?
